Holiday Land (1934)
Holiday Land Review
Holiday Land is a 1934 animated short film from the Color Rhapsodies series. It is a pretty endearing film which was Oscar nominated.
So the boy goes to sleep and has a dream about various holidays coming to life with their famous icons such as Santa Clause and Easter Bunny. So the film is not too original and it was overall weakly paced and quite slow at times, but there is no denying that it’s such a sweet flick. The boy is a wonderful protagonist and although I disliked his voice, his personality and look are fine.
I liked the bunnies particularly and everyone else is great as well. But the Easter segment is easily my favorite. The soundtrack is naturally wonderful and filled with terrific holiday numbers, but the animation is superb as well and quite well designed in both characters and backgrounds. I am quite fine with its Oscar nomination in the end.
Holiday Land has its problems, but it is so well scored, beautifully animated and sweet leading to one quite endearing flick.
