Alice’s Mysterious Mystery Review

Alice’s Mysterious Mystery is a 1926 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a weak short.

This short is about Julius and Alice trying to beat some bad guys that are dressed in something resembling a KKK uniform. Yes, this is what happens here. Why Walt Disney was obsessed with this subject during this era is beyond me and that obsession rendered this short creepy and odd.

What worked great here is the animation, which is among the best in the series. It’s quite polished and wonderfully designed throughout. A couple of action moments worked also and Julius was quite good here. But the plot was ridiculous and even beyond the imagery it made no sense whatsoever.

Alice’s Mysterious Mystery has strong animation, but an odd, senseless plot. The questionable racist iconography was also strange.

My Rating – 3.4
