Alice the Whaler Review

Alice the Whaler is a 1927 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a weak entry.

Alice is dancing aboard her ship with a veritable zoo of a crew. Eventually, a lot of animals shenanigans ensues and what we are left with is a plotless flick with no memorable humor or character moments. Alice is here and it was great that they remembered her during this later era, but it came a little bit too late unfortunately.

The movie is very well animated and the live-action Alice was so well incorporated into the animation, but the movie had nothing to do with whaling as that only came to play in the final scene. The film should have been much more adventurous given that its setting is so fun.

Alice the Whaler has solid animation, but a weak plot and a lack of more adventurous elements.

My Rating – 3.2
