Alice in the Wooly West Review

Alice in the Wooly West Review

Alice in the Wooly West is a 1926 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a fine short.

Julius has to save Alice and their stagecoach from a band of robbers. This is another Alice Comedies short set in the Wild West and it’s better than the previous effort. The plot is very standard and forgettable. Alice is once again underutilized and the gags are non-existent.

But the animation is confident and polished while its setting is well utilized. The movie flowed surprisingly well and it’s among the more entertaining entries in this series. The use of exclamation points was pleasantly reminiscent of comic books. Some of the action was quite fun too.

Alice in the Wooly West has a forgettable plot, but a solidly utilized setting and strong animation.

My Rating – 3.5
