The Abominable Snow Rabbit Review

The Abominable Snow Rabbit is a 1961 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very endearing short.

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck encounter an Abominable Snowman up in the Himalayas. Then, each tries to convince him that the other one is a rabbit. The reference to ‘Of Mice and Men’ was quite amusing and fitting for this short. The overall movie needed funnier gags as this you’d expect a movie starring this duo would be hilarious, but it’s only amusing.

Still, it’s a very strong cartoon that makes great use of its montane setting. The animation is particularly strong while the snowman character is quite memorable in his dangerous yet gentle personality. How Bugs outwitted Daffy was funny and the emphasis on ears in the gags was interesting. The ending is cute, but hardly iconic.

The Abominable Snow Rabbit is an endearing, very amusing short that is excellent in terms of characterization, but it needed memorable gags overall.

My Rating – 4.1
