Lickety-Splat Review

Lickety-SplatĀ Review

Lickety-Splat is a 1961 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very funny short.

This Road Runner short is one of the better entries in this particular series due to its inventive gags. Yes, most of the short focuses on some kind of explosions to the point of becoming repetitive a bit, but when you have these great gags, the repetitiousness does not matter at the end of the day.

There is this one moment in the second half of this short where Wile thinks he is safe when jumping from one boulder to another one that is seemingly safer. He ends up falling to his face nonetheless and that gag was hilarious. The rocket moment was also terrific. The animation is strong too. The ending I found to be a great kind of respite from all his pain and it was refreshing seeing such an end in this series that usually features much more violent conclusions.

Lickety-Splat is repetitive in the types of gags used, but most of them were still great and a couple were hilarious in this very funny cartoon.
