Dante’s Lunch Review

Dante’s Lunch Review

Dante’s Lunch is a 2017 animated short film. It is a Pixar short based on ‘Coco’.

Every dog has his day, but poor Dante can’t seem to catch a break. Dante is a very cute cartoon dog and this flick is undeniably charming. The animation is stellar and the gags with this dog trying to catch this enchanted bone that seems to always break away from him were mostly pretty good.

The problem here is that this is yet another uninventive 2-minute short from Pixar that functions more as an ad for their movie than as a genuine short film. ‘Coco’ is an inspired film, but this short only focuses on the dog with only one skeleton man appearing in the final image. It’s too slight and lazy as most of these late Pixar shorts are.

Dante’s Lunch is cute and endearing enough, but it is a slight flick that functions more as an ad for its movie than a genuine short film.

My Rating – 3.2
