Two Scent’s Worth Review

Two Scent’s Worth Review

Two Scent’s Worth is a 1955 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a terrific short.

This Pepe Le Pew short is set in the French Alps as Pepe tries to catch Penelope across the mountain and ski jump. This setting was a perfect choice for this particular series and the action was fantastic here. My favorite scene was the whole ski jump climb while the cliff ending was unexpected and hilarious. The way he saved her and she for once wanted to be with him just for that one time was so funny and the best way to end the cartoon.

The first act was clearly less interesting and/or memorable, but everything else was superb here and I wish that we got more of these beautiful-setting Pepe shorts. Penelope is great and Pepe is per usual very funny in his one-liners. Some of his lines here cracked me up as they were perfectly delivered and so much fun. The animation is very good and the score is also strong.

Two Scent’s Worth is one of the best Pepe Le Pew shorts that benefits from a glorious Alps setting beautifully utilized and very funny Pepe dialogue.

My Rating – 4.3
