Knight-mare Hare Review

Knight-mare Hare Review

Knight-mare Hare is a 1955 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a funny cartoon.

Bugs Bunny is transported to the court of King Arthur. There he jousts, fights a dragon and duels with Merlin. This short is hilarious in the segment with Merlin that everything else felt subpar in comparison. It’s good, but not as amazing as that entire sequence. The way he tricked Merlin was very on brand for Bugs and it was comedy gold.

The rest of the movie wasn’t as funny, especially the somewhat slower first half, but I did like that twist ending. It was very interesting and clever. The British references were fun and the animation was phenomenal. Bugs Bunny is a true star here, but it’s a shame that it was a solo effort with no other major cartoon stars to support him.

Knight-mare Hare is somewhat less memorable in its first half, but the second one is terrific. The animation is fantastic and that Merlin sequence is hilarious.

My Rating – 4
