The Solid Tin Coyote Review

The Solid Tin Coyote Review

The Solid Tin Coyote is a 1966 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very interesting short.

Wile E. Coyote uses scrap metal from a dump to build a huge, mechanical likeness of himself, and uses this robot to chase the Road Runner. It ends up as just another pile of scrap. I am going to be a bit biased in this review as this is one of my childhood favorites. I watched this cartoon on television so many times growing up and it was always a pleasure. It’s still quite enjoyable, though it has its flaws.

The first half is rather lackluster and lacking in terms of memorable gags and/or sequences. The sound and animation are also nothing to write home about. But where this movie was striking was in the second half. Wile makes a robot and he actually ends up catching the Road Runner for once. Of course, he then proceeds to screw up in a funny fashion, but the fact that he managed to catch him made this short unforgettable and one of a kind.

Though the first half was a mess, The Solid Tin Coyote has a fantastic ending and an interesting mecha-inspired story that made it unique.

My Rating – 3.2
