Sugar and Spies Review

Sugar and Spies Review

Sugar and Spies is a 1966 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very mediocre short.

Wile E. Coyote finds a spy kit and uses its contents (sleeping gas, a mail bomb, explosive putty, and a gadget-filled spy car) in his unsuccessful attempt to catch the Road Runner. This was unfortunately not the best way to end the Road Runner series. As the last short starring these two iconic characters, it has its moments, but for the most part it was uninspired and uninteresting.

The animation is fine and some of the contraptions were memorable. Wile was quite funny in a couple of gags, but mostly these gags weren’t particularly funny as they were just going through the motions. The movie also lacked artistry in its animation, lazy score and problematic editing.

Sugar and Spies was the last Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner short and it ended the series on a weak note with an uninspired plot and mostly lazy gags.

My Rating – 3.1
