Snow Excuse Review

Snow Excuse Review

Snow Excuse is a 1966 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is another weak short.

Speedy Gonzales, living in the snowy mountains, is freezing and decides to steal firewood from Daffy Duck after he rejects him borrowing some of his. Daffy does everything in his power to stop him. The winter cabin setting was lovely here and that shotgun gag was quite fun. But that’s pretty much it. The rest of the cartoon is barely serviceable.

The animation was solid for the period, but the score and sound are unremarkable. Daffy is just as mean as he always was during this era, which made him unlikable. Speedy himself is far from memorable. The final gag was totally uninspired and it made no sense whatsoever. The other gags ranged from okay to downright forgettable.

Snow Excuse has its moments, but for the most part this was another uninspired Speedy/Daffy outing that failed to stand out.

My Rating – 3.1
