A-Haunting We Will Go Review

A-Haunting We Will Go is a 1966 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak short.

Daffy convinces his son that old Witch Hazel isn’t what he thinks she is. This is one of the strangest Looney Tunes cartoons released during this period. It has all of the issues that plagued the entries from the mid to late sixties, such as recycled animation, a mediocre script and characters mashed together that don’t belong.

Why would you make a Witch Hazel short and have both Daffy and Speedy in it? What does Speedy have to do with any of this? This made no sense whatsoever and that character was entirely wasted here. I don’t understand why they had the need to put both of them at all times during this period. Hazel has her strong moments and she is a lot of fun, but it’s a shame that this mess was her last cartoon. The premise itself had some potential and it started off fine, but the second half ruined it for me as it was uninspired and chaotic. There is even an entire design repeated from ‘Duck Amuck’ here. That’s how cheap the animation is.

A-Haunting We Will Go has a solid premise and a great Witch Hazel, but it also has Speedy for some reason and a script and animation that were just bad.

My Rating – 3
