Sandy Claws Review

Sandy Claws Review

Sandy Claws is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fun short.

In this cartoon, Tweety and Granny are on the beach. Sylvester is of course also there and he tries to catch the little bird. Not a lot of original stuff is done with this beach setting, which was disappointing as it was a welcome departure for these characters to be on the beach, but there are some great scenes here, most arriving in the second half.

Sylvester is great, but Tweety is only okay and this is certainly far from his most memorable roles. Granny is amazing and undoubtedly a scene-stealer. It was hilarious seeing her in this turn of the century swimming suit and it was a nice change in pace that she actually tried to help the cat at first. The ending is suitably brutal and fun. The animation is only solid.

Sandy Claws has a pretty weak first half, but it became better later on with Granny being an absolute scene-stealer here.

My Rating – 3.8
