Sandy Claws Review

The Hole Idea is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weaker short.

This one is about a portable hole inventor and how a thief uses it to steal stuff. It’s an odd short with the invention itself being especially ridiculous, though it admittedly works in a cartoon sense. I particularly liked the animation here and how the hole was used in some scenes while the ending is very amusing with Satan being so funny in that final line.

But only that ending is truly memorable while most of the other scenes were forgettable. I found the thief himself not all that great and the movie was mostly devoid of excitement or suspense. The overall style to the movie is one of mid thirties, so of course it feels dated for Looney Tunes of the fifties.

The Hole Idea has a solid premise and a funny ending, but everything else is dated and forgettable.

My Rating – 3.5
