Rodent to Stardom Review

Rodent to Stardom Review

Rodent to Stardom is a 1967 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak short.

Daffy is discovered by a famous Hollywood director. The duck is made stuntman for Speedy Gonzales. Hollywood filmmaking has always been a strong source of inspiration for the Looney Tunes series with Daffy and Bugs providing a couple of iconic movies about that subject. The problem with this flick is that it’s just not funny. Daffy is well cast of course and he is not as much of a jerk as he was in some of his previous shorts, but Speedy is again miscast.

The entire female duck element had promise, but ultimately it went nowhere. The ending was boring and again not utilizing the aforementioned duck well at all. The animation is also very odd as it felt cheap and recycled. There is this rather strange sound design in this flick that felt overloud and ill-fitting.

Rodent to Stardom is another cheap Looney Tunes short that has a memorable Daffy, but a weak plot and mediocre technical aspects.

My Rating – 3
