Road Runner a Go-Go Review

Road Runner a Go-Go Review

Road Runner a Go-Go is a 1965 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is another filler cartoon.

Wile E. Coyote uses slow motion photography to record his failures at catching the Road Runner in hopes of detecting where exactly he went wrong and avoiding the same pratfalls in the future. The only reason to see this movie is to see Wile comment on things. That was different and interesting. The meta commentary elevated what otherwise is just a filler.

The short consists of so many gags and scenes reused along with their animation from previous shorts, and unfortunately I have to say that they aren’t the best scenes either. They are just serviceable. The animation here is overall not great and the movie’s editing and structure are quite messy. Wile’s lines are quite fun, but the plot itself was weak.

Road Runner a Go-Go features a memorable use of Wile and meta commentary, but the plot itself basically consists of reused gags from previous shorts, making it lazy and uninspired.

My Rating – 3
