Quackodile Tears Review

Quackodile Tears is a 1962 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid cartoon.

Daffy gets an order from his wife to sit on an egg before it hatches. But chaos ensues when he switches eggs with an alligator. This switch-up leads to that very obvious and predictable ‘Ugly Duckling’ ending. The whole movie lacks a more original or memorable storyline.

But Daffy himself elevates the material effortlessly. The bulk of the cartoon follows his failed attempts to take care of the egg along with his disgruntled attitude toward that job, the latter gag being the best one here. He is always hilarious when he is annoyed by something and here is no different. The animation is pretty good too while the wife character is also quite fun. The alligators needed better treatment, but at least the two ducks are a lot of fun

Quackodile Tears has a very predictable and typical storyline, but Daffy elevated it with his signature disgruntled personality and some funny lines of dialogue.

My Rating – 3.8
