Crows Feat’ Review

Crows’ Feat Review

Crows’ Feat is a 1962 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty amusing cartoon.

Two Mexican crows, flying to Guadalajara on the wings of an airplane, spot a corn field on the ground below and dive into it. The corn field is guarded by a rifle-toting Elmer Fudd, whom the two lame-brained crows unsuccessfully try to outwit. The plot of this movie is anything but fresh. It’s familiar and rather pedestrian throughout with only the ending being quite memorable and fun, but even that type of scene we’ve seen before.

But the reason why this movie still works lies in the characters themselves. Jose and Manuel are just always a lot of fun to watch and in particular to listen to as their broken Spanish is absolutely hilarious. A couple of lines here made me laugh and especially their silly pronunciations of words. I just wish that they get better storylines. Elmer himself is surprisingly sidelined here.

Crows’ Feat is very well made and it features two hilarious characters in the starring roles, but it needed a better script and better used Elmer Fudd.

My Rating – 3.8
