Donald’s Penguin Review

Donald’s Penguin Review

Donald’s Penguin is a 1939 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a pretty solid flick.

Donald receives a penguin as a gift. He has a hard time connecting with him. This movie features one annoying case of animal cruelty where the penguin ended up eating those fish. I did not like that scene at all. The ending is also not great. But the first half was a lot of fun and quite endearing.

What was lovely here was the penguin’s design. His adorable eyes, facial expressions and running all made me smile. The movie is wonderfully animated and quite charming. Some gags worked for me and Donald in the parental mode was also an interesting touch, but more humor, score and memorable action was definitely needed here.

Donald’s Penguin is a wonderfully animated and charming flick that featured an adorable penguin, but a far from memorable or funny plot.

My Rating – 3.7
