Pullet Surprise Review

Pullet Surprise Review

Pullet Surprise is a 1997 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Pete Puma is trying to raid the henhouse Foghorn Leghorn is guarding. Foggy decides to have some fun with Pete. Pete was a character that appeared in the fifties only a couple of times, so I don’t know why they brought him back for this cartoon, but nonetheless he was quite fun and funny here.

The movie is not particularly rich in action as the two characters rarely walk or go anywhere, which was an issue, but that did lead to more focus on dialogue, which made the movie quite clever. The best line Foghorn delivers is one about him wearing high heels. That was an absolutely hilarious revelation and the most adult joke of the cartoon. The animation is faithful to the shorts from the fifties and the voice acting is excellent as well.

Pullet Surprise has little action, but the dialogue is excellent and the humor is quite sophisticated. It’s an old-fashioned Foghorn Leghorn movie that really works.

My Rating – 4
