Superior Duck Review

Superior Duck Review

Superior Duck is a 1996 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Daffy is supposedly a superhero and tries to show off his “superpowers”. This movie feels familiar as the duck was in similar situations before, but it was elevated by that terrific ending where he becomes a fly and he hits so many windows in the city. That was a hilarious scene that really worked.

Daffy is very funny throughout this short that makes great use of his lisp and his proclivity for alter egos. The animation is stellar, colorful and highly polished while the sound and score are just as competent. The voice acting is excellent as well. My only issue here stems from the studio’s bad habit to put so many iconic characters from the Looney Tunes roster in just one short movie. They did that throughout the nineties and it just felt forced with no time to make proper use of most of them.

Superior Duck is gorgeously animated and very funny in its conclusion, but it featured an overly large roster of characters, which did diminish its impact.

My Rating – 3.8
