No Barking ReviewNo Barking Review

No Barking is a 1954 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very weak cartoon.

In a junkyard, Frisky Puppy’s loud yapping keeps high-strung Claude Cat jumping onto trains, planes and up past Tweety Bird’s nest. First off, the animation is pretty good with the color palette being charming. Claude Cat himself is also very good here. But that’s unfortunately pretty much it when it comes to the positives.

Yes, I did not care for this short as it was so damn messy. The entire structure is awkward as it includes Tweety in the final scene, but he was so shortchanged and misused that this might be his worst appearance in the series so far. I also found that puppy annoying, and most of the movie repetitive in terms of the scenarios.

No Barking is well animated, but awfully utilized in Tweety’s character and structurally very messy.

My Rating – 3.1
