Dog Tales Review

Dog Tales is a 1958 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak cartoon.

This is one of those shorts that focus on blackout gags in their entirety. I do not care for such movies, though the initial gag was fine, the very first one. Eventually, it became repetitive in the same old gag being repeated throughout the movie’s runtime.

What I did appreciate was the film’s reference to ‘Lady and the Tramp’. That was unexpected and fun. The animation is also charming and the film definitely is a sweet watch for dog lovers, but it needed a better story that doesn’t just rely on one simply punch gag. It needed more variety in its execution.

Dog Tales has a solid Disney reference in the end and fine animation, but it is a one-joke cartoon that gets stale and repetitive pretty quickly.

My Rating – 3.2
