Cat-Tails for Two ReviewCat-Tails for Two Review

Cat-Tails for Two is a 1953 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weaker than expected short.

Yes, for a short featuring the first ever appearance of Speedy Gonzales, this is a rather pedestrian effort. I liked him of course as his fast talking and Mexican accent make him instantly memorable among the pantheon of iconic Looney Tunes characters, but the plot itself is nothing to write home about.

It’s yet another cartoon parody of ‘Of Mice and Men’. I am tired by now of these particular parodies with this one being serviceable and quite solid at times with great voice acting, but the humor is lacking and the dialogue is also not great. It would be quite a good cartoon had it not been done before so many times.

Cat-Tails for Two is memorable for introducing Speedy Gonzales, but otherwise it’s very pedestrian.

My Rating – 3.6
