Plop Goes the Weasel ReviewPlop Goes the Weasel Review

Plop Goes the Weasel is a 1953 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid, but not great flick.

A lip-smacking weasel invades the barnyard of Foghorn Leghorn and his usual canine foe, and Foghorn is quite willing to put baby chicks in danger of being taken by the weasel so long as it makes the dog appear to be failing his job of guarding the chicks. I found the premise fine and the execution solid, but only a couple of moments are truly special.

The ending is definitely the funniest with a familiar, but well executed gag. The rest of the cartoon has its sporadic moments of brilliance, but most of it is only solid. The weasel is okay, but Foghorn is fun per usual and Dawg is actually the star of this cartoon and the one that ends up the winner basically.

Plop Goes the Weasel has its funny moments, but the cartoon is just solid without ever being as great as Foghorn Leghorn cartoons truly deserve.

My Rating – 3.6
