Alice’s Brown Derby Review

Alice’s Brown Derby Review

Alice’s Brown Derby is a 1926 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a very uninspired short.

This movie is about another horse race with Julius riding a mechanical horse and Pete unsuccessfully trying to cheat to win. ‘Alice Wins the Derby’ already did this race thing, so this movie felt like a rehash. There is a definite lack of originality or inspiration that plagued this unnecessary film from start to finish.

The first couple of scenes worked as they featured Julius repairing this mechanical horse. Some gags there were quite amusing. But the rest of it was very uninspired and boring. The animation is actually very good and polished and the character designs are excellent, but the lack of a more unique plot hurt it in the long run.

Alice’s Brown Derby is a flick plagued by a lack of original ideas. Some of it worked, but most of it was quite uninspired.

My Rating – 3.4
