Alice the Toreador Review

Alice the Toreador is a 1925 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a weaker short.

Alice is in a bullfight where she thinks she will win since she is matched against a peaceful bull. But the tables are turned when her bull is switched with one with a worse temper. This is one of the more forgettable Alice Comedies. The plot is your standard bull fighting premise and the execution is only serviceable.

Alice is fun here. She is a memorable early Disney heroine in that she is always adventurous. The animation is also superb and the bull looked quite good. I just wished that the gags were better and that the bull himself was better utilized. But the short is not lengthy, so it’s pretty engaging.

Alice the Toreador is not particularly inventive or memorable, but it’s well animated and solidly engaging.

My Rating – 3.4
