Woolen Under Where Review

Woolen Under Where Review

Woolen Under Where is a 1963 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very funny short.

This is the seventh and final short starring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog, which is so sad as this series should have received many more episodes as it’s amazing. This is one of the better ones as the quality of the gags is consistent and mostly terrific. The first sequence is hilarious – Ralph takes the sheep and when he is hit in the head with a rock, he makes sure to return the sheep before falling on his face. That was hilarious and quite clever.

The other standout is the final gag. This is where he prepares all of these complex weapons and even making sure that the alligators are waiting for him at the bottom of the cliff. Eventually however, the time is up and the two go to rest as their shift is over. It is always funny being reminded that this is just a job for them that they diligently do every day. The middle of the cartoon has gags that are not quite up to the level of these two, but are still solid enough.

Woolen Under Where is a strong final short featuring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog that features a particularly terrific opening and ending.

My Rating – 4.1
