Wild Over You ReviewWild Over You Review

Wild Over You is a 1953 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fun flick.

A female black cat named Penelope Pussycat accidentally acquires a white stripe down her back, which attracts an amorous and hopelessly romantic skunk, Pepé Le Pew, who mistakes her for another skunk. This is a plot that I’ve seen before in this series, so it’s far from an original movie. It’s also rarely truly great in any of its scenes.

However, it’s pretty good throughout as all of the situations are amusing, Pepe is so much fun and the cat is also quite memorable. The early 1900s Paris was a great time period and setting choice for the short and the animation is suitably terrific while the score is also quite good. The movie is very charming and simply highly entertaining, though not as funny as it should have been.

Wild Over You is unoriginal, but very well executed in terms of animation, score and characterization.

My Rating – 3.9
