The Scarlet Pinkernel Review

The Scarlet Pinkernel Review

The Scarlet Pinkernel is a 1975 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.

Pink is inspired by The Scarlet Pimpernel and he decides to rescue dogs captured by the local dog catcher. The best part of the movie is the dog catcher who is the Little Man himself. He serves as a great foil to the protagonist and the dog too. I also liked the animation quite a bit and the movie is bound to satisfy any dog lover with its sweet story about helping dogs from dog catchers.

However, the humor is nowhere to be found here. The short is definitely well crafted, but hardly special in any of its scenes that are all forgettable. The ending also is disappointing and more could have been done with this premise in terms of the action with only the beginning being very interesting, but the rest was only okay.

The Scarlet Pinkernel has good animation and a solid premise, but the humor and memorable scenarios are lacking.

My Rating – 3.4
