The Cats Bah ReviewThe Cats Bah Review

The Cats Bah is a 1954 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a funny short.

Penelope, an American tourist cat who’s gotten a white stripe of paint down her back, is pursued through the Casbah by the amorous skunk Pepe Le Pew, who woos her with his rendition of As Time Goes By. I found the beginning of this film rather problematic as the narration was an unnecessary introduction to this story. It felt stalling and lazy.

But everything else was so good, especially the utilization of its sets and some very memorable imagery with the camel one being a lot of fun. In particular, Pepe Le Pew is hilarious here with some of their encounters being so amusing with his signature talk being ridiculously smooth and sexual in lines of dialogue. The animation Is quite polished too.

The Cats Bah has a problematic beginning, but the rest of the cartoon is fun and very well done.

My Rating – 4
