Pudgy and the Lost Kitten Review

Pudgy and the Lost Kitten is a 1938 animated short film from the Betty Boop series. It is a pretty good cartoon.

The cat from ‘Happy You and Marry Me’ returns and the overall movie felt way too similar to that flick, though inferior at the end of the day. Betty herself is sidelined in an annoying way and she was mostly very forgettable. As for the kitten, this character was much more interesting in that previous short.

Pudgy himself got some very amusing moments in this movie that is worth seeing for the little puppy alone. His interactions with the cat are quite adorable. The animation is also pretty good. The runtime, though, was overlong whereas the plot was beyond slim and lacking in memorable gags or action set pieces.

Pudgy and the Lost Kitten is well made and Pudgy is fun here, but the other two characters are less memorable and the premise was too thin.

My Rating – 3.4
