Yip Yip Yippy Review

Yip Yip Yippy Review

Yip Yip Yippy is a 1939 animated short film from the Betty Boop series. It is a solid cartoon.

A drugstore cowboy reads a dime novel and imagines himself as an Old West cowboy battling a cattle rustler. Yes, this was actually the final entry in the Betty Boop series, but Betty is nowhere to be seen. It was an entirely original short containing new characters and done in the western genre, but it was just labeled as a Betty Boop short for some unbeknownst reason to me.

This is a pretty inconsequential, forgettable cartoon that has no strong plot or memorable characters in it, but it still has solid visuals, a fine western atmosphere and a terrific soundtrack that is so much fun to listen to. It’s best seen for that reason alone.

Yip Yip Yippy was labeled as the final Betty Boop cartoon, but she isn’t in it. This is a standard western cartoon that is forgettable, but well scored and fun.

My Rating – 3.5
