Pluto’s Blue Note Review

Pluto’s Blue Note Review

Pluto’s Blue Note is a 1947 animated short film from Disney. It is a solid cartoon starring Pluto.

In this short, Pluto unsuccessfully attempts to mimic other animals’ sounds until he eventually manages to cheat his way into singing. What I liked about this cartoon especially is that ending. It was unexpectedly mischievous and clever. But other than that smart moment, most of the cartoon is not all that memorable.

Pluto is endearing here and it is wonderful that his short was Oscar-nominated, but it was still one of the weakest nominees that year because the storyline and the gags are both uninspired, though clearly very endearing. The animation is polished and the sound design is great, but the film needed more memorable gags and plot scenarios.

Pluto’s Blue Note looks and sounds great and it’s endearing, but it lacked in terms of memorability and authenticity.

My Rating – 3.6
