Pink Blue Plate ReviewPink Blue Plate Review

Pink Blue Plate is a 1971 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.

The Pink Panther gets a job working at a busy café (owned by the Little Man) beside a building site and has trouble serving food to a grumpy construction worker. The premise is terrific and unique for this series as Pink has never had a job quite like this one. I don’t know why, but I find construction sites perfect for cartoons, and this is another such example of a terrific short that utilizes on its setting superbly.

The scene with the cement was thoroughly unnecessary to me. I found it weak and puzzling. The ending also could have been better. But every other sequence is fantastic. The opening is great, the pizza scene is fun and the cake one is very funny. It was hilarious following this very rough worker get annoyed by the service and how Pink screwed the Little Man over was so amusing. The man is so endearing and memorable in this short.

Pink Blue Plate benefits from an excellently utilized construction site setting as well as a great role for the Little Man.

My Rating – 4.2
