Sea Scouts Review

Sea Scouts Review

Sea Scouts is a 1939 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a solid, but forgettable flick.

Donald leads a sea voyage with his nephews where they encounter a ferocious shark. The shark proceeds to chase Donald for the rest of the cartoon. This is one of those cartoons that focus on just one scene and they extend it for the entirety of its runtime for better and for worse. The animation is fine and Donald is great, but the plot left a lot to be desired.

The nephews are quite annoying in this entry, but Donald escaping the shark made for a couple of very amusing sequences, though none of these gags are unique in any way. It’s all standard stuff that is admittedly well executed and the ending is quite fun, but I wished to have seen more different scenarios here.

Sea Scouts is a repetitive short that is very well executed overall, but it needed originality and more interesting scenarios.

My Rating – 3.6
