Past Perfumance Review

Past Perfumance Review

Past Perfumance is a 1955 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a forgettable short.

Paris, 1913: Passionate, odoriferous Pepe Le Pew pursues the latest love of his life, a cat who’s been made up to look like a skunk, through the sets of a silent-movie studio. I loved the premise here and the animation is excellent. The whole movie has that very interesting studio look to it and the imagery is great.

However, the overall storyline and humor are lacking. I did like some scenes, but most were your standard Pepe Le Pew chase sequences with not enough originality to them. It’s a shame that the humor and action was lacking in comparison to the premise and animation.

Past Perfumance is another less than stellar Pepe Le Pew outing with an excellent style to it, but not enough momentum in its action.

My Rating – 3.5
