My Little Duckaroo Review

My Little Duckaroo Review

My Little Duckaroo is a 1954 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very dated flick.

Upon seeing a wanted poster with a reward of $10,000 for the dead or alive capture of Nasty Canasta, Daffy sets out alongside his companion Porky and his trusty steed to retrieve the villain and collect the money. Yes, this is another one of those western parodies and it’s thus far from timeless piece of animated offering. The humor is rarely great and the plot is also not particularly strong.

The animation is excellent, though. The setting is so well utilized. Nasty Canasta is okay, but Porky and Daffy are much more memorable, and it’s nice seeing Porky again as he was absent throughout the majority of this particular year’s Warner Bros. output. I did like the film’s lightweight approach, but it needed more edge to it for sure.

My Little Duckaroo is dated and weaker in plot, but definitely very well animated and quite charming in its own right.

My Rating – 3.7
