Hare-Way to the Stars Review

Hare-Way to the Stars is a 1958 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty solid cartoon.

This is a Marvin the Martian entry in the Looney Tunes series and I always love these cartoons and this crazy guy. I also liked this short, but admittedly to a lesser degree than its predecessors as the plot is somewhat familiar this time around and, thus, less impactful. None of the gags were particularly clever nor funny unfortunately.

What did work was the animation that is as always stunning. Warner Bros. just knew how to make these space-oriented films really atmospheric and this one is also very cool, polished and colorful. The otherworldly atmosphere is awesome while both characters are terrific, though clearly Bugs stole the show in this particular story. I liked the use of the other Martians, but I missed the dog myself.

Hare-Way to the Stars isn’t great, but it does have solid characterization and stupendous animation.

My Rating – 3.9
