Freeze Frame Review

Freeze Frame is a 1979 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Wile E. Coyote chases the Road Runner through some snowy mountaintops, leading to a series of snow-related traps such as the Acme Blizzard Machine which makes instant snow. This movie changed things up considerably for the series by introducing an entirely different season and biome. The addition of snow did not quite fit in with these two characters, but it was still interesting enough that it somewhat worked.

The animation is splendid and the snowy backgrounds are quite gorgeous to watch. The score is forgettable, but the action is fine with some gags that were pretty good and memorable. Unfortunately, the vast majority of gags weren’t all that memorable and the short failed to properly utilize its premise for greater laughs.

Freeze Frame is well animated and different enough that it worked, but it could have been so much better and funnier.
