Ye Olden Days is a 1933 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a pretty strong flick.
Here Mickey is a minstrel who has to save the princess (Minnie) from the clutches of villainous Goofy. Yes, you’ve read that right. Apparently Goofy is a villain here and obviously this decision did not work out as he is too funny and silly to be taken seriously as a menacing character. Such a bad casting this time around.
But Minnie is good and Mickey is very good as the middle ages hero. I really liked the adventure storyline here and they really executed the archetypal 30s adventure romance so well. The historical period and setting are also well put to use and the action is memorable as well. I just wish that they start using the character of Goofy more and properly.
Ye Olden Days has its obvious problems, but is mostly a charming adventure romance flick with fun action and tone.
