Us Again Review
Us Again is a 2021 Disney animated short film that was released along with ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’. It’s charming.
It is about an elderly couple who used to dance together when they were young. Now, when the rain starts falling, the two are rejuvenated, and eventually they start dancing as older people as well. This is an inspirational story about love, commitment and music that never die, even with very old age. Although the short is predictable and more could have been done with this premise, it’s still quite endearing, even if it lacks a bigger conflict.
Us Again is particularly commendable in the technical department. The animation is gorgeous with the background blurring effect being especially stunning. The dance choreography is the star of this whole short as it’s strikingly alive, fun and infectious. The music is wonderful and some of the imagery on the streets is quite memorable. The ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ reference was terrific.
