Top Ten Air Supply Songs List

Top Ten Air Supply Songs

Air Supply is an iconic Australian soft rock duo that had their heyday particularly in the eighties. Throughout that decade they released numerous classic songs within this genre that are still enjoyable and beautiful to this day. This is my ranking of their ten greatest and most impactful numbers.

10. I Can Wait Forever

The tenth spot goes to this hugely underappreciated song that is this superbly sung and composed power ballad. For some reason or another, this one never got the attention it deserved, but it’s such a wonderful ballad that I have to put it on my list.

9. Keeping the Love Alive

Not the best Air Supply song by any means, but Keeping the Love Alive is still one very underrated gem that deserves more love for its very catchy beat alone. It’s a gorgeously composed and sung song that is a true earworm.

8. The One That You Love

The One That You Love has one issue and that is its slower opening. However, the song becomes better and better as it moves forward, culminating in the beautifully arresting second half. It is one of the slower, but more elegant Air Supply songs.

7. Lonely Is the Night

Lonely Is the Night is by far the softest-sounding song on this list, but that shouldn’t be taken against this wonderful number that has the most infectious 80s beat probably on this entire list. It is light, breezy and so damn enjoyable that it deserves this high placement.

6. Even the Nights Are Better

This one is different. Most of the songs from this duo aren’t particularly diverse in style, but this number is more unique as it features a more upbeat tune and more lightweight lyrics. It also has an authentic refrain, per usual great vocals and an excellent beat throughout.

5. Just As I Am

Another one of Air Supply’s power ballads, Just As I Am isn’t the best of these songs, but it’s one of the better ones. It is heartwarming in its lyrics, but it is particularly impressive in its excellent beat and a very catchy, powerfully sung chorus.

4. Making Love Out of Nothing at All

Suitably enough this power ballad reached number two at the Billboard Top 100, second after Bonnie Tyler’s iconic Total Eclipse of the Heart. The two songs are very similar in their epic nature and very high vocals reached in the chorus in particular. Making Love Out of Nothing at All is gorgeously sung and just as powerful and impactful now as it was back in 1983.

3. Here I Am

Quite possibly the saddest Air Supply song, Here I Am is about lost love and you can just feel pain and sorrow emanating from the singer’s majestic voice. It is one of those numbers that are just incredible not just in refrains, but also in the lead up to all three choruses. The music itself is beautiful, but it is the singing that is breathtaking here.

2. Every Woman in the World

Funnily enough I heard this song the first time five years ago while watching the horror movie ‘Slither’. And I’ve just adored it from then onward. Every Woman in the World is one of the best and most timeless power ballads from Air Supply – not only are the lyrics immensely romantic, but the vocals are truly majestic, especially in that final refrain where they are elevated in a sublime way. It is one of the more iconic 80s ballads and the deserved runner up on this list.

1. All Out of Love

All Out of Love ushered in the eighties, the best ever era for modern music, with immense power. Released at the very beginning of 1980, it was a big hit, but it has remained iconic to this day due to its timeless appeal. The lyrics of a man wanting to right wrongs that he committed against his loved one are touching while the singing is absolutely outstanding. The song is superb from start to finish, but obviously the refrains steal the show with heightened vocals and an infectious beat that is a true earworm. For all of these reasons, it’s a classic and an obvious number one pick for this list.

Honorable Mentions:

Goodbye – This one is a tragic ballad that features heartbreaking lyrics and amazing vocals, but it’s particularly strong in its music that is just very nostalgic and melancholic.

After AllAfter All doesn’t quite sound like an Air Supply song, but it’s one of those eighties songs that are undeniably powerful and fun earworms.

Lost in Love – This one usually lands in the top ten lists, but it gets an honorable mention from me as it’s a bit too subdued in comparison to others. Still, it’s a sweet, memorable song that really works.

One Step Closer – This song has a terrific opening and later on superb refrains. It is not a ballad, but it’s a song that features an instantly catchy beat that makes me want to dance in a second.

Sweet Dreams – Very well composed and quite original in its different-sounding beat, Sweet Dreams is very good, but it’s not among the most memorable Air Supply songs.
