The Yolk’s on You Review

The Yolk’s on You is a 1980 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Foghorn Leghorn assigns Prissy, who’s been laying some odd, unsatisfactory eggs, to lay turquoise eggs for Easter. This movie is strange. It’s one of those modern Looney Tunes where they included way too many characters and certainly Foghorn Leghorn himself was too sidelined. He was funny for sure, but he only got one scene at the beginning and that’s it.

But other than the problematic beginning and somewhat pedestrian ending, this is a stellar cartoon that was surprisingly funny throughout. It features Daffy Duck and Sylvester pitted against each other and it’s a pairing that worked so well here that it’s a shame that they weren’t paired more often. Sylvester is very good, but it is Daffy who stole the show with his hilarious observations. When he tried to negotiate with the cat was the funniest highlight.

The Yolk’s on You is a very funny Daffy/Sylvester cartoon that sidelines Foghorn, but is otherwise quite entertaining and surprisingly good overall.

My Rating – 3.9
