The Rebel Without Claws Review

The Rebel Without Claws Review

The Rebel Without Claws is a 1961 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very odd short.

This is a rare parody short starring Tweety and Sylvester. And that is exactly where my problem with this film stems from. These two aren’t all that good fits for a parody period piece. Somebody like Bugs or Daffy would have been a much better choice. Most of the movie did not manage to make proper use of these classic characters with a couple of exceptions.

The ending is nice. It was unexpected and a lot of fun. Some of the lines spoken by Tweety are hilarious, especially in the context of this setting. The American Civil War wasn’t used in the best manner for a story here, but at least the animation was strong and the dialogue was excellent.

The Rebel Without Claws is a Tweety and Sylvester period period piece that doesn’t fully work in spite of a couple of excellent gags and lines.

My Rating – 3.7
