The Foxy Hunter Review

The Foxy Hunter Review

The Foxy Hunter is a 1937 animated short film from the Betty Boop series. It is a pretty silly, but fun cartoon.

Junior and Pudgy slip away from Betty Boop’s care to go hunting with a pop-gun. The small woodland creatures don’t take kindly to this and beat them up. This is yet another Betty Boop cartoon where Betty is totally sidelined and where Pudgy is an utter idiot. The ending I really liked because the two got what they deserved and the entire sequence with the duck was hilarious.

She was so angry that it produced some genuinely amusing moments. Junior was at his most memorable here while Pudgy being in peril never ceases to entertain me. But the animation and score are just serviceable and the overall short was familiar in premise and rather childish in its overall tone and feel.

The Foxy Hunter has its very entertaining moments, but it also lacked in artistry and authenticity.

My Rating – 3.5
