The EGGcited Rooster ReviewThe EGGcited Rooster Review

The EGGcited Rooster is a 1952 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a funny flick.

Foghorn Leghorn’s wife goes to play bridge and orders him to sit on their egg. But Dawg arrives and then Henery, and both distract him, which all leads to him getting hit both by his wife and the chicken hawk. Although very frenetic in pacing, this is one of those classic cartoons that features a stellar chase scene near the end that was instantly memorable.

Mrs. Leghorn is so amazing, so funny and memorable that it’s a shame she didn’t appear more in this flick. Henery has his moments for sure, but it is Dawg who actually steals the show here as he’s so competent and terrible toward the rooster. I found the egg-sitting premise slight, but it worked as it was utilized to the fullest degree possible, especially in terms of fun action.

The EGGcited Rooster has its issues, but the characters all get their moments to shine and the action’s quite stellar.

My Rating – 4.1
