The Bug Parade Review

The Bug Parade is a 1941 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty weak flick.

We have yet another spot-gag cartoon here and I do wonder when they are going to slow down with these shorts. I did like them at the beginning as they were much stronger, but these later ones are getting increasingly more lazy. The animation on this one is good, but the narration is typical.

It was a good idea to have a short centered around bugs narrated and comically approached. But the movie just isn’t funny or particularly inspired. They should have had more scientific points in there and I am getting frustrated how little educational value there is to these spot-gag Merry Melodies.

The Bug Parade is well animated and is good in premise, but it’s executed weakly and lacking in strong humor and memorable scenes.
