The Addams Family 2 Movie Review
The Addams Family 2 is a 2021 animated black comedy film directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. It’s even weaker than its predecessor.
The 2019 Addams Family movie was a mediocre reboot for this franchise, but even that movie had some things going for it, such as the animation, voice acting and fine humor here and there. This sequel, however, has lost even those small positive tidbits, ending up a total failure.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in the storytelling itself. The story that they imagined here is just very bad. First off, the road trip elements did not work whatsoever. They did not know how to make all those locations fun and the situations in there funny. It was just a waste of time to have them on the road and not have any adventurous and/or funny moments there.
Secondly, that entire identity of Wednesday storyline was so tiresome and pointless that it really got on my nerves. It did lead to some positive development for this iconic character, but let’s face it, we all know that she is an Addams, so why pretend that she might not be belonging to this family? It was a very dumb plot that never worked for me.
Gomez himself definitely got some solid development in this sequel. This is probably, come to think of it, the only truly good aspect of the movie. His love for his daughter is transparent and the relationship between the two was so well portrayed. But others are all underdeveloped and quite forgettable, even including Fester, a character who is here overly goofy in his portrayal and quite cartoony, but not in a good way unfortunately.
Most of The Addams Family 2 is very cartoony and childish, but in that awfully annoying modern manner where the songs are too modern and having way too many rap numbers to boot. I did not care for the soundtrack at all. The animation is serviceable, but nothing truly imaginative, and the same goes for the pacing, the direction and the dialogue. The humor has some fine points, but for the most part it’s uninspired and quite unfunny.
